Quite Moments

What I will be doing in the next few weeks:

. . . leading a life of leisure, sitting in my adarondack chair sipping my hot tea and reading the want ads!

Disappointments and Blossoms

Hi Folks!
I haven't been blogging, or doing much of anything, for a few weeks. To be honest, I have been struggling just to "stay afloat!" My job will end on the 30th and that has hit me quite hard, since my husband has been either underemployed or unemployed for almost two years now! I just didn't have anything to blog about through the tears. Sorry for the inconsistency! Anyway, I am feeling better and need to get back into this discipline. Blogging is supposed to be an uplifting thing for both the reader and the writer, so it's time for me to buck up and shut up!

So, today I would like to show you what has kept me partially sane through all this. My little patio garden!

Veggies, cilantro and lettuce!

Strawberry pot with lots blossoms!

I had these two pots last year filled with Zinnias and alyssum.  The Alyssum made it thru the winter and are beginning to bloom again!  Maybe it's a good sign and I will begin to blossom again too!

Prom Dresses

I recently was asked to make alterations to three prom dresses.  One for my granddaughter, one for her friend and one for a friend's daughter.  It was an adventure, since formal dresses are usually made from  extremely slippery fabrics.  The two shown here were shortened. The bodice of the other one (not pictured) was taken in at the back zipper.  I had never altered an invisible zipper before, but it was easier than I thought it would be.

I was then asked, by some blogger friends to show pictures of the dresses.  I only have pictures of my granddaughter and her friend in their dresses.  This is for you Edi! (and BTW, Margaret, this is the softball GD that you made the tie dye shirt for.)

My granddaughter, Courtney is in the teal dress and her friend Anna is in the royal blue one.  They went to the prom with some of their friends.  It was great group!
