Summer Lovin'

The Blogging Business Artisans have a monthly challenge.  The July Challenge  by Jenny of A Bird in the Hand Art is about Summer Lovin'.  We were to do anything summer-related, love-related, GREASE (the movie) related.  I did a Grease post on Friday that you might like to see, but knew that I needed to come up with a completed project.

I finally came up with a new pillow cover design for my primitive wholesale line.  It sports quilted lace trimmed hearts on a muslin background.

I have embroidered some little french knots and a dashed outline stitch around the perimeter.  The muslin was then frayed for the primitive look and attached to a homespun fabric.

The pillow cover is finished with buttons for easy closure from either end.

This pillow will be offered as part of my wholesale line for primitive ad country shops.  Wish me luck!

Other team members' challenge pieces can be seen in this BBA post.
Please visit. Thanks!

Aprons and more aprons!

I've been making aprons like mad lately.  I made them for a local wholesale customer and also for a couple of craft shows that I am doing this summer.  One show was last weekend with another next weekend.  Most of what I have made were children's aprons.

Also,  I have be hosting an apron sale in my PruittCreations Shop.  Left in the shop are my older styles and one vintage cross stitched apron; I would like to clear them out to make room for new stock.   I am offering them at 50% OFF the regular listing price.  There is a coupon code in the shop announcement for getting the discounted price.  You can choose from a thanksgiving apron, a cute half apron, breast cancer awareness aprons, and several others.  They would make great gifts if you already have a favorite apron!

Then, watch for the children's aprons to appear in my shop maybe later next week, after my next craft show.   (P.S.  Will also be listing some cute children's totes!)

What have you been up to lately?

Surviving Breast Cancer

As many of you know, I am a breast cancer survivor of almost seven years now.  I wanted to take a little time today to encourage anyone who might be going through the battle. Or you might know someone who is.

The foremost advice that I can give to anyone battling this disease is "Please don't stick your head in a hole and let fear rule you!"  Find out as much as you can about your type of cancer. Knowledge will help you make good decisions about your care; you must keep the dialogue open with your doctors and care givers.  You have choices, and you must make the best decisions possible for your own good care.   I have encountered too many patients that are scared and want to leave all the decisions to their doctors.  A positive, fighting attitude is one of your best tools.  You are worth all the effort that you can muster to get well.  I could say many more things, but suffice it to say, "Don't check out" and "Keep in there pitchin'!"

I have several items in my shop (including the quilt pictured in my banner) that a portion of the proceeds goes to benefit BC patients and fund more research. I sometimes wear a cuff like the one above to bring awareness to the cause. I am blessed and want to bring awareness and encouragement.

If anyone would like to talk about their situation or receive prayers for recovery, please contact me at the email given at the top of this page.  I would be happy to correspond with you.

Saturday Show

Grrrrrrhhhhh . . . .  I'm having such trouble with my camera!!  Most of my photos are coming out blurry lately!  Same camera, but I can't figure out what's going on!  Okay, enough of the temper tantrum for today!

Anyway, I did a community charity show on Saturday and it was HOT!  The good thing was it was out on a grassy field -- that helped. The show didn't have as many people attend as they were hopin' for, so sales were not good as I had planned.

My granddaughter, Kayleigh, helped with the show.  She also sold friendship bracelets; she's raising money to be an exchange student in her Junior year.  She hopes to go to Taiwan or Japan.  And I got to use the new banner that I made with the help of Edi of Memories for Life Scrapbooking. I sent her fabric pieces backed with a fusible interfacing and she cut out the letters with her laser machine.  When I got them back, I mounted them on the muslin triangles and finished it up with some bias binding in red. Didn't it turn out great?! (Sorry about the fuzzy picture!)

I hung several of my quilts (also for sale) and they created some shade and some color!  Plus, quilts always seem to draw customers in to take a look!

I also previewed a new item!  Yoyo decorated Flip Flops!  They were a hit! (again a fuzzy picture! grrrrrrh)

The sun zapped all my strength and I slept for nearly the rest of the weekend.  How was your weekend?

Almost Wordless Wednesday

Look! Here I stand at the door and knock.
If you hear me calling and open the door,
I will come in, and we will share a meal as friends.

Catch Up!

I've been out of the blog habit for a bit because of a ton of family events.  A vacation of sorts!   So here is the recap of my life lately:

My birthday was on the 30th of June and most all of my kids and their families were on hand to celebrate:

Bella Jo helping me blow out my candles!

I didn't get any pictures of our 4th of July Celebration because I was ill.  I went and laid on the couch all afternoon then went home before the fireworks began.  But everyone else had fun with new friends, swimming, BBQ, home made ice cream, and fireworks!

Then the next day we went camping.  All of us!  All of my kids and their families who live in the area and a few friends too!  There were 45 of us!  We had the circle end of the campground to ourselves and had a great time!

DIL Annie and grand Ada.

Plenty of relaxin'.  Plenty of visitin'.  Nice weather!

Swimming at the dock!

Far left corner, Vivi, then Raya, Julilee, Bella, Roman and mom

Even the littles!

And then there was a Hillbilly Golf tournament! Which my SIL won!

SIL Terry and grand Cassandra in the last heat.

Then we topped it off every night with the campfire and s'mores!  Great Fun! (Although the picture is not very clear, but you get the feel of the day.)

It was a great extended holiday!  Now back to the crafting biz!  See you tomorrow!
