S.E.O.
Since Etsy just changed their searches to a relevancy basis, I have been trying to learn more about searches. For my customers to be better able to find me, I have been adjusting my tags. Thus, I have seen a jump in my views. A second thing that I am working on is learning about SEO. And a friend gave me some information that I am now devouring regarding Search Engine Optimization.
F. Y. I.
One thing I have learned is that inbound links are more important than outbound links to the search engines like Google, Yahoo, or Bing. It is more valuable to have other websites be giving out your link, than the links that you are placing in your content. Why? Search engines rate web sites. And if you are getting "references" from high rated web sites, you jump up in the ratings. It's kinda like the old high school social system; it's who you know and who you are seen rubbing elbows with, not who you say that you know!! Make sense? I'm still chewing on that one! Thought you might want to too!

That's a good summary of S.E.O. I've been chewing on that one for awhile too.
Congrats on your three years on Etsy!
Re your comment on my post today. We moved to Walla Walla from Portland when my hubs got transferred. It is a nice little area.
I keep trying to get the best tags for my Etsy shop, but it is so challenging? I was playing with http://www.tools4etsy.com/ trying to see what tags would get the most relevant hits. Crossing my fingers!
I am a dimwit when it comes to adding tags and such so I can't help with your research. Your earrings are gorgeous though! :-)
Your FYI tip is great! My biggest SEO tip is to do your keyword research. I use the Google Keyword Tool for all of my articles on HubPages and then tweak keywords based on my own search statistics later.
Great info and good luck with the SEO stuff...still confusing sometimes!
Good info- I still need to work on editing my listing tags. Ugh...it just keeps slipping to the bottom of the list!!!
very cute earrings. About the SEOs. I try to get my mind around all the things that are told to me. Hopefully, somethings gets through. Sounds like you want other people saying good things about you... Maybe I'll learn from your comments too! {:-D
I have heard the same thing you mentioned--the importance of inbound versus outboard links. Kinda hard to get those kind of links, though! SEO is a topic I am learning about in tiny little pieces. I have a feeling that by the time I figure it out, the rules will have changed. LOL.
good information, Linda! and in the comments as well!
Now how do we (our blogs) get referred?
