Spring Bazaar for Easter
This weekend, well, Friday and Saturday not Easter Sunday, I will be a vendor at the Carver School Spring Bazaar! Should be lots of fun, since there will be loads of children and their families there!

Lenten Thoughts
After a short break away from home and my routine, I have returned to wonder about the validity of my usual daily existence. After being totally emersed in another way of life, mainly caring for my little grands with ALL my time being taken up with their needs, I am a little bit disoriented this morning. My time at home is consummately given to myself!
My usual routine is to get up late, go to the computer with a cup of hot tea (or occasionally coffee) to see what might have occurred during the night hours in my online shops. (If you are not interested the tedium of day, skip down to the next paragraph.) I read several of my favorite threads to see what my blog friends are up to, read blogs and do my morning "maintenance." Many of my friends have wondered how I keep up with three online shops and two blogs while still being so creative. Well, it involves my morning maintenance where I check what listings have expired, what is trending on the activity thread, what of my items has been favored, what has sold that I need to package up, and generally do an overview of my shop to see what might need to be fixed or changed. (I did this for all three of my shops, now for two, since I closed one of them on Feb 10th.) Yes, this takes a while, but must be done. the middle part of the day was devoted to creativity, house upkeep, meals and more creativity, including listing new items. After supper, I would usually relax in my easy chair to a couple of TV shows and doing some handwork i.e. cutting fabric, embroidery and pressing my work. In between all of this was time taken for blogging, sometimes in the mornings, and sometimes at night, depending on when the inspiration hit me. This also does not mention time taken for photography which is essential to online selling and blogging!
So much for my routine, so back to my thoughts. I wonder about my effectiveness. I have already raised my family, hence the giving of my time to another person's well being is not a part of my typical day, except for the things that I do for my husband, but he's pretty self-sufficient! I spend time on my own desires, and creativity. Hubby is happy to let me do this, but I think sometimes that I should be contributing more to the family budget. I do contribute a little, from my online businesses, but not that much. Most of my earnings go back into creativity supplies, and the circle starts over. Therefore . . . how am I effective?
As this is the Lenten* season, it is the time to consider habits and routines to see if they are indeed beneficial. It occurs to me that all this doing for myself is like a hobby turned into primary priority. I think I need a little balance to all this! Thus the question becomes:
What can I do to add a real lasting benefit to someone's life at this stage in my own life?
I know this is a heady question, but I just thought I would let y'all know what I was thinking . . . during this Lenten* season.
*Lent or Lenten season: Lent is a time to prepare for Easter by observing a period of fasting, repenting, moderation and spiritual discipline. The purpose is to set aside time for reflection on Jesus Christ - his suffering and his sacrifice, his life, death, burial and resurrection.

Resurrection Sunday
Most people call this Easter Sunday, but I, I call it Resurrection Sunday. Because of what happened on this morning several thousand years ago, the fact of an empty tomb, I have faith in a God that is able to do anything.
Jesus replied, "What is impossible with men is possible with God." Luke 18:27 NIV
Mt 26:32
And Jesus said to his disciples:
"But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee." Mt. 26:32 NIV
The Deity that I serve says what He means and does what He says. He has done something that no other "deity" has done: He has risen from the dead. On that morning, the women came looking for the body of a dead man, they met an angel:
The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead . . . '" Mt. 28:5-7 NIV
And this rising was not only the proof of his Deity, but the down payment for what could happen if we just believe. He has paid the price so you and I can raise from our wrong doings and our sins and He can put us on a new plain to start anew. This is the basis of my faith. Spiritually, a way has been made for for me to be clean of my sins and I will always be grateful for His love and His sacrifice. And best of all, He has paved the way for me to know Him because He is alive!

Dark Day
I don't say much here in this venue about my faith, but this weekend marks the most important day to those of us who call ourselves Christians. For us, it is not about Spring, bunnies nor colored eggs to hunt, although we do those things for our children's delight! It's all about the basis of our belief.
Yesterday was Good Friday, marking the day of Christ's crucifixion. Today would be the full day that He was in the tomb. I am reminded of a old song about that time called 'Christ Arose' by Robert Lowry. We sang it every Easter time in church. I miss those 'ole times of good singing in church, standing right beside my mom and dad. Anyway, the song goes like this:
Low in the grave He lay--Jesus, my savior!
Waiting the coming day--Jesus my Lord!
Vainly they watch His bed--
Vainly they seal the dead--
Death cannot keep his prey--
He tore the bars away--
Up from the grave He arose, with a mighty triumph o'er His foes.
He arose a victor from the dark domain,
And He lives forever with His saints to reign.
He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!
This song reminds me that there is hope!
What seems lost, can have a different outcome. It bolsters my faith.
And as a post scrip, I like this quote by Joan Chittister:
“Holy Saturday is not about counting our blessings; it is about dealing with darkness and growing in hope. Without the Holy Saturdays of life, none of us may ever grow up spiritually.
Today, the church is empty. Today, the loss finally sets in . . . heavy-hearted from the reality of yesterdays, of Good Friday and its dashing our securities. Today, alone and bereft, we come face to face with the question we try so hard to avoid the rest of the year: how do we deal with the God of darkness as well as the Giver of light? Have we been abandoned? Are we left now on our own in this world? Is there nothing else? Was all the rest of it pure fairy tale?
The important thing about Easter Saturday is that it is precisely when its emptiness sets in that we begin to understand there is as much voice of God in emptiness as there is in anticipation. It is now, when we feel the absence of Jesus most keenly, that we can find ourselves listening to Him most intensely.”

Spring Break with Paper Bag Art!
I ran this tutorial last spring, but you might like to see it again, especially if you missed it!

Some of you are in the midst of spring break, and some of you will experience it next week. Whatever the timing, kids are at home and needing something to do. Here's the craft that I promised long ago--the timing is right for it now! I did these with my six year old grandson, Padraic, this week, while he was recuperating from the flu. We did these for Easter, but you can do them for any season or for any subject you choose--truly a CREATIVE project! I've even done them for one that says: "ssssh, I'm Studying!" for my granddaughter to hang outside her door at the proper time.

We did these for Easter, but you can do them for any season or for any subject you choose--truly a CREATIVE project! I've even done them for one that says: "ssssh, I'm Studying!" for my granddaughter to hang outside her door at the proper time.My paper bag art is a fun project for ANYONE! I utilize scraps of paper or fabric; common lunch bags or bags that I have saved; scraps of ribbon or raffia; but you can use any other embellishments that you have around. For this project, I had saved some little white paper bags that I found somewhere, and scraps of fabric.
FIRST STEP:Turn the bag over to get to the flap that is the bottom of the bag. This flap must be pasted down flat. I use Mod Podge, since it
is good for lots of mediums.
Then fold down the top of the bag about a half inch or so, making sure to fold it toward the same side that you glued down the bottom flap. (This will be the back side of your project.) Before you glue it, place a long piece of raffia or ribbon under the flap, then glue it down. Ribbon will then be tied in a circle to make the hanger, as shown.
Step TWO:
Turn the bag over, after it dries, and begin to decorate the front however you like, using paper, fabric, or any other items. Here I have cut egg shapes from scraps of fabric. Completion of your art project may include greetings written with puff paint, as I have done here, or with any other 
medium you have handy. You can hang them over a door knob, over the corner of a picture frame, from the off switch of a lamp or anywhere you like. Get creative!
