I used to live in the mountains. I miss living there. After some dry years, and the ravaging of insects that thrive in dry wood, these three became "widow makers" that had to be taken down.
Linda, I love the sketch! I too love the mountains and I know about "widow makers" We have quite a few on our property in the Blue Mountains. So glad you joined us for Sunday Sketches.
Hi Linda, great to have you with SS! What a wonderful sketch is it pen and ink or brush and ink? Too bad about the trees. I did a double take while reading your profile - 23 grandchildren, whoa, God bless all of you! So glad you beat the cancer monster to enjoy them, you must be so grateful for everyday.
I'm following your blog like I do all the SS's, here's my link if your interested:

Looking forward to seeing you again and some of your quilts too, that's another art I'd like to learn....someday!
Thanks for the follow Linda! Wow, I should've enlarged your sketch then I would've seen it's done in charcoal! You achieved such a richness in the black tones, I was deceived.
Hi Linda - nice to meet you and welcome to sunday sketches. I love this sketch because it so reminds me of our families trips through the cascades when I was little. I am a huge sucker for cabins to, I think I could live in a one room cabin with no problem (except for my 7 kids!)
So excited to see your a quilter too. I am too and need to get some pics of my quilts up on my page sometime. Yours are lovely!
what a lovely sketch! I've never heard the term 'widow makers' before. Are they trees that may crash down on a man, and make his wife a widow? sorry, I'm guessing here, lol! I hope you are surrounded by nature where you are now.

This is a lovely sketch...Welcome to Sunday Sketches!
By the way, I am curious as to what a Widow Maker is...
Your cabin in the woods makes me think of one of my favorite places in Maine....

HI Linda, I love the mountains as well. Beautiful place/view!
I love your trees. Amazing sketch. What did you use? It looks like charcoal, but I could be wrong. :)
