Vacation Memories

Recently we took a vacation to Sisters, Oregon for the Sisters Outdoor quilt show.  We visited the surrounding area, and then also took a week away at the beach.  I've been sharing quilt pictures here on Wednesdays.  Here's a couple of beach:

Anyway, my favorite team on Etsy, the Blogging Business Artisans,  has a monthly creative challenge.  This month's challenge:

"We are into vacation season in July -- create something that brings back a favorite vacation memory, something that represents a place you've visited or one you'd like to visit, colors or scents associated with a special place . . . . Make it fun!!"

I remember taking vacations as a girl with my dad and mom.  We almost always went to the mountains!  I still have a love of pines. So . . .sew . . . I decided to make a little pillow cover representing those memories.

This was a fun project!  Please take some time to visit the Blogging Business Artisan blog to see what the other participants have come up with.

Vacation!

Beginning today, I am taking a vacation from the computer!  Need some think time!  Need to develop some new routines!  For this type of thing, the beginning of the year is best for me.  I will probably spend some of the time going to Seattle to visit my grands, and maybe even a little trip to the beach for the rest of the down time!  So . . . .
I will be back again on January 16th

Day 3 and Rug Hooking!

Anyone interested in Rug Hooking??? A friend of mine has just started a blog and website to sell her patterns for rug hook design!! Her shop is called Rug Hooking Designs. This  little rug hangs over her fireplace mantle in the living room and shows her love of the season and animals (she has 4 cats, one little doggie, and four birds!)

Sharon is also an awesome quilter.  She loves to quilt for her family: baby quilts, lap quilts and awesome wall quilts! And . . . she has shown me a new way to quilt  that I am using to finish a T-Shirt quilt for my granddaughter.  I'll be showing it to you soon . . .watch for it!

So, If you know someone who is interested in rug hooking, please let them know about Sharon's new shop!

Seal Antics

As promised, here are the pictures of a seal at Yaquina Head State Park.  We visited the Lighthouse, then an old quarry where we found several seals lazily relaxing on the rocks just a stone's throw from the human viewing platform. This one seal was not sleeping like the rest of them, but seemed to relish the attention of all the onlookers.  I really don't know what he was doing, it looked like calisthenics and he just kept doing all these 'stretching exercises?'  I  just kept shooting to get these pictures.

Sorry, the pictures are not more crisp and clear.  My photo program is not working well. Pooh!
Anyway, enjoy the seal antics!

This lovely necklace is has just be relisted! I spend part of my weekend on the beach, so I just had to feature this necklace. I sat and read a book and watched the fishermen, the people watching their children play, and others walking their dogs. I strolled on the beach looking for pebbles and shells, and generally had a lovely day!

Trip to the Beach!

Today, I will be at the beach with my husband! He's got business there, and I'm tagging along. I'm taking a holiday from my routine. I may spend some time by myself, but that's OK; I like solitude. I'll do some shopping. I'll read a book, enjoy the ocean, and of course, take my camera. I'll share some pictures when I get back!
I can already smell the ocean, hear the seagulls cry and feel the brisk breeze on my face!
I do have a necklace that was inspired by my last trip to the beach. Check it out!
