Iced Coffee!
It's been exceptionally hot here in the Pacific Northwest lately and the heat is expected to continue for the rest of the week. How about making an iced coffee! I usually have some coffee left over from my morning pot. We then end up pouring the remainder down the drain when we are finished. So, recently, I have starting saving it for my afternoon iced coffee! Here's my recipe!
Fill a tall glass 3/4 full with crushed ice
Add cold coffee to the 3/4 mark
Add milk to the top
Then add your favorite coffee flavoring to taste!
(I prefer sugar-free vanilla)
Stir with a tall spoon and ENJOY!
Of course in the heat, your glass will sweat profusely, just like all the people are doing! You will need a coaster to save your table or desk top from getting wet! I have lots of cute fabric coasters in my shop and I'm running a "BOGO SALE" -- buy one get one free sale. Buy one set of coasters and get another free with your purchase! Essentially, that is HALF PRICE!
Save the second set to give as a hostess gift or to add to a brides gift basket for a shower!

Summer Reading SALE!
Summer is the time for all kids [and adults] to be reading! Teachers remind their students to read during the summer to keep up their reading skills. My granddaughter hasn't been reading enough. It's such a temptation to swim, play computer games, have sleepovers with friends and forget to read a good book. Anyone you know need to have encouragement to read. Boy, have I got the perfect sale for you!
It's my Summer Reading - Buy One Get One FREE SALE. Idea:How about buying a book for a friend, putting it in a paper bag, and tying the top with one of my ribbon book marks! Makes a great gift! Visit my shop to see a selection of book marks and book hooks.
Also, I have another book recommendation. Take a look at the right column, down at the bottom, it has my recommendations.

aahhhh . . . the country life!
I lived in the country once in my lifetime, and I guess the country got "into my blood", as the old saying goes! I dream about moving back to the country all the time! I truly miss being out in the open spaces. Mind you, I don't like all open spaces like deserts, or flat open prairies that stretch as far as the eye can see. I like to see some relief on the horizon! But my very favorite place to be is in a bucolic situation: pastures, wildlife, barns, crops, gardens, chickens, plows and that beautiful old farmhouse! I guess I just miss the peace of the open spaces and the slower lifestyle. I have found several etsy vendors that have captured that sense for me. Today, I built a treasury about barns and country life. Have a quick look-see!
My favorite in the treasury is from the shop CountryDreaming.
Check out her photography. I've provided a sample above.

Friday Hot Dog Story
July is National Hot Dog Month! My Etsybloggers carnival entry is about hot dogs!
So what do Friday and hot dogs have to do with each other? Well, my husband has a story from his childhood. He and his best friend, Benny, decided to camp out in the back yard and sleep over night in a tent. They had a a campfire (supervised by Dad) and my husband was looking forward to a roasted hot dog or two for dinner. Benny said, because it was Friday and he happened to be catholic, that he couldn't eat meat until the day was over. So the waiting began. Hours went by and hunger began to loom! My husband could taste the hot dogs and thought he could eat a dozen by the time midnight came! At the stroke of midnight they each roasted a hot dog over the fire - tastiest hot dogs ever! After devouring those first hot dogs, my husband ran back to the tent to grab another hot dog to roast, only to find that his dog Lassie had devoured all the rest of the hot dogs in the package. Boy was he hot with anger! And so a dog created a hot boy. :)

Creative Inspiration with Scraps!
Here's the start of another project! Yea!!!!
And it all started with my fabric scraps!
Creative inspiration finally came after a long dearth of motivation! I'm thrilled to be working on a new project! I have always wanted to do some crazy quilting, and this weekend, I started a pillow cover, that has grown to a quilt top! I'm excited about it, and of course, had to go to the local yardage shop to get more supplies--more yardage, embroidery threads, and ribbon!

Summer Parties!
Summer is the time for garden parties, craft parties on the patio, bunco parties, and whatever else you can think of to have friends over. A tea party would be nice for the neighborhood gals. Make some handmade invitations and go knock on doors to deliver them. Then make some scones, or buy some pastries, bring out your best tea pot, cut some flowers from the yard for your centerpiece and determine to make and enjoy some new friends!
Buy one get one free SALE is still going on in my Handcrafts shop. If you are invited to a party, you don't want to forget that hostess gift! Right now I have fabric coaster sets (set of four) on sale in my handcrafts shop--buy one get one free sale! Lots to choose from! www.pruitthandcrafts.etsy.com

Independence Day Girl!
Our Independence Day celebration was a big bash with horseshoes, volleyball, swimming, BBQ with all the sides and trimmings, home made ice cream--5 kinds--and fireworks!
Thought you might also enjoy my newest granddaughter as much I do! Isn't she cute! This is my youngest grandchild and my second eldest grandchild (Now an adult, she says - 18!) at our Independence Day celebration! Baby Vivi was all decked out in her patriotic onesie with her party hat! And ... that's her big sister enjoying her dinner with it all over her face! Good stuff! Great Day!
Clearing out my patriotic items in my 'After the 4th SALE' in my shop! Check it out!

Bracelets Galore!
I read that bracelets are not as popular a jewelry item as earrings (1st) and necklaces (2nd). I like bracelets! I have a larger wrist size than most people; I'm not a cute little thing anymore so most average bracelets don't fit comfortably. Therefore . . . . I make bracelets that are at least 8 inches, sometimes 8 1/2 inches in length. (I can shorten them for those of you who are a little more slight of frame! :))
Anyway, I will be listing quite a few more bracelets in the days to come, since I enjoy making them. That's not to say that I won't be listing necklaces and earrings, since I make those too! but my current passion seems to be bracelets! Check 'um out!
